Steve Hogle Watercolor Photography

What is Watercolor Photography?:

I call my work 'Watercolor Photogaphy" As each piece is naturally shot with an over saturation of colors and soft focus and homemade filters. Post work overlays or 'fusion' work involving multiple layers of the image are added for shadow and tonal depths for added punch and vibrancy. The Original work is then printed and finished using the long lost art of hand tinted using Gouache paints.

With a bold use of an array of colors and mixed media techniques in each of my pieces ,Each is created as to invite the viewer in to distinguish either the work is photographic or a painting. My eye and perspective ventures out in search of unusual scenes, colors, and vivid displays of textural combinations.

My work covers many genres from the traditional to abstract in nature. All pieces begin with my original photographic work and or with mixed media techniques added, they take on a new life of their own.Early morning natural light , and manufactured light pushed to the extreme in shots are a few of my favorite moments in creating the basis for each piece..
